# Submission rules

A broker keeps exclusivity on a prospect as long as there is recent activity in the Stoïk app. The rules depend on your market and on the policy type.

### Standard policies: exclusivity can expire

Standard policies are prospects with revenue below €50 million that align with Stoïk's standard underwriting guidelines.

* **Active prospect:** exclusivity ends after 90 days with no activity.
* **Inactive prospect:** exclusivity ends 30 days after the initial quote was created.

A warning email is sent 15 days before a standard quote loses exclusivity, so the broker has time to act.

### Custom policies: protected

Custom policies are prospects with revenue above €50 million, or that don't align with Stoïk's standard underwriting guidelines. They are never released for inactivity: they stay with the current broker however long the quote sits idle.

### What activity keeps exclusivity

* Sharing the project by email, or downloading it.
* Downloading the contract, or sending it for signature.
* Booking an expert or risk assessment call. This protects the prospect for 90 days. Cancelled calls don't count.

### Always protected

* **Clients with a live contract** (active, signed but not yet started, or termination not yet effective): a new broker must send Stoïk a signed mandate to take over.
* **Former clients whose contract was ended by Stoïk** for bad debt, a risky renewal, bankruptcy, cancellation, or non-payment: no other broker can take these over.

If every contract with a client has ended, and none was ended by Stoïk for one of the reasons above, any broker can pick up that client, whatever the policy type.

{% hint style="info" %}
Priority rules do not apply in the context of a Public Tender (AOP).
{% endhint %}
{% endtab %}

{% tab title="Germany, Austria" %}
No exclusivity rules apply. Any broker can add a company another broker already holds.
{% endtab %}
{% endtabs %}

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the following URL with the `ask` and `goal` query parameters:

```
GET https://docs.stoik.io/broker/underwriting/submission-rules.md?ask=<question>&goal=<user_goal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is what the user is ultimately trying to achieve, the reason they need the answer. Sharing it helps GitBook give you a better, more relevant answer. A goal is most helpful when it describes the outcome the user wants rather than restating the question. For example, with `ask=how do I create an API token`, a goal like `automate deployments from our CI pipeline` lets GitBook tailor the answer to that use case.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
