# Installation errors

Fix the most common errors that can occur while installing or uninstalling CrowdStrike Falcon Sensor.

## Best practices

If you encounter a block or error during installation or uninstallation:

* Never manually interrupt the installation or uninstallation process (do not force-quit in Task Manager).
* Temporarily change the computer's DNS server by modifying the network configuration.
* Temporarily disable the Windows Firewall and restart the process.
* Reinstall the Bluetooth drivers from the computer manufacturer's website.
* Before installing CrowdStrike, close/uninstall any antivirus programs already on the computer to avoid potential conflicts. See [Antivirus and exclusions](/mdr/deploy/antivirus.md).

## Troubleshooting

<details>

<summary>Network problem</summary>

Error message: *Falcon could not connect to the CrowdStrike cloud. Please check your network configuration and try again.*

In many cases, access is blocked by a central network security solution (e.g., a proxy or DPI filter). Open the necessary network connections: see [Network requirements](/mdr/deploy/crowdstrike/network.md).

</details>

<details>

<summary>Conflict with existing antivirus</summary>

Error message: *This program is not designed to run on Windows...*

This usually indicates a conflict with an already installed antivirus program. Before installing the EDR, make sure the incompatible antivirus software is uninstalled. See [Antivirus and exclusions](/mdr/deploy/antivirus.md).

</details>

<details>

<summary>Outdated Windows version</summary>

Error message: *CrowdStrike Falcon for Windows x64 is only compatible with Windows 10, Windows 11...*

The installer you are using is generally not compatible with your Windows version. Download the correct version of the installer for your operating system.

</details>

<details>

<summary>CrowdStrike already installed</summary>

Error message: *Enter the Falcon maintenance token for this host.*

The executable file is already installed on your computer.

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the following URL with the `ask` and `goal` query parameters:

```
GET https://docs.stoik.io/mdr/deploy/crowdstrike/os/errors.md?ask=<question>&goal=<user_goal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is what the user is ultimately trying to achieve, the reason they need the answer. Sharing it helps GitBook give you a better, more relevant answer. A goal is most helpful when it describes the outcome the user wants rather than restating the question. For example, with `ask=how do I create an API token`, a goal like `automate deployments from our CI pipeline` lets GitBook tailor the answer to that use case.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
