Errors during CrowdStrike EDR setup
If you encounter a block or error while installing/uninstalling CrowdStrike Falcon Sensor, follow these best practices:
Never manually interrupt the installation or uninstallation process (do not force-quit in Task Manager).
Temporarily change the computer's DNS server by modifying the network configuration.
Temporarily disable the Windows Firewall and restart the process.
Reinstall the Bluetooth drivers from the computer manufacturer's website.
Before installing CrowdStrike, close/uninstall any antivirus programs already on the computer to avoid potential conflicts.
Here are the most common errors that can occur during EDR deployment—and the corresponding solutions to quickly resolve them.
Network problem
Error message: Falcon could not connect to the CrowdStrike cloud. Please check your network configuration and try again.
In many cases, access is blocked by a central network security solution (e.g., a proxy or DPI filter). The solution is then to open the necessary network connections.
Conflict with existing antivirus
Error message: This program is not designed to run on Windows...
This usually indicates a conflict with an already installed antivirus program. The solution is to make sure that, before installing the EDR, the incompatible antivirus software are uninstalled.
Outdated Windows Version
Error message: CrowdStrike Falcon for Windows x64 is only compatible with Windows 10, Windows 11...
It generally means that the installer you are using is not compatible with your Windows version. The solution is to download the correct version of the installer for your operating system.
CrowdStrike already installed
Error message: Enter the Falcon maintenance token for this host. It means that the executable file is already installed on your computer.
